Our research studying fish that live in sulfidic sites takes us to some stunning places in Southern Mexico. Enjoy some photos and videos from our May 2024 trip to the field!
First up: some nonsulfidic sites (aka no sulfide and normal amounts of oxygen). Pretty but also pretty normal.
Next, we have our sulfidic sites! These sites are high in toxic hydrogen sulfide and very low in oxygen. Very few species can survive here. So these sites are both pretty and pretty unique!
